Computing
‘Computer science empowers students to create the world of tomorrow.’ - Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft
Students use technology in every aspect of their lives, and in Computing we develop their awareness of the digital world around them. While we may think many students are digitally literate as they use technology so often, Computing as a subject is new to many. We focus on equipping our students with the ability to be safe users of IT. Students will be encouraged to look at problems and break them down into smaller, more manageable tasks. They will learn a range of skills they can deploy to develop creative products using a range of different software, with the theoretical knowledge to be able to explain how computers work.
As a department, we have access to dedicated Computing rooms each equipped with interactive whiteboards, scanners, stand-alone networked computers and access to a wide range of other peripheral devices including microbits, tablets and raspberry pis.
