Business and Economics
Welcome to the Business & Economics Department. Our team of specialist and experienced teachers deliver a range of courses: GCSE Business at Key Stage 4 and A-level Business, A-level Economics and Btec Level 3 Business (Diploma and Extended Certificate) at Key Stage 5.
Business and Economics are dynamic and ‘living’ subjects making them relevant and topical in today’s world. As a department we aim to develop students’ awareness and natural curiosity of the Business environment and Economic climate around them. We use topical case studies, news articles, videos and visits to enhance teaching and learning of concepts, theories and models.

Through studying our subjects, we develop students’ communication, team-working, analytical and evaluation skills and encourage them to become effective and independent learners.
We provide opportunities for students to engage in activities that enable them to develop their self-confidence, employability, and enterprise skills. Through the Tycoon Enterprise Competition, sixth form students set up their own business and acquire valuable skills in the process including team working, creativity, problem-solving and self-management.
As a department we are dedicated to preparing students for the next stage of their education, future pathways and careers through developing their skills and attributes and providing opportunities and experiences to inspire them to succeed.
