GCSE Examination Results - Summer 2024

We would like to pass on congratulations to all our Year 11s on an excellent set of well-deserved results. It was wonderful welcoming them in to school this morning and celebrating. We are incredibly proud of all our students and staff with 37% of grades being 9-7 and 89% of grades being 9-4 both of which exceed last year’s results. We are delighted that 17 students achieved straight grades 9-7 but are also incredibly proud that 90% of students achieved the GCSE pass grade 4 in both English and Maths.

We are also very grateful for the support given by parents, carers and families in what has been a turbulent and challenging few years. We celebrate with all our students today who have shown such resilience and commitment throughout their time at Newlands. This year group in particular demonstrated leadership, maturity and commitment throughout their GCSE preparation and they have been rightly rewarded today. Well done!

We would like to wish each and every one the very best of luck as they embark on the next stage of their exciting educational journey-many of whom will be joining us in the Sixth Form and we cannot wait to have them back.

GCE Examination Results - Summer 2024

We could not be more proud today as we celebrate the success of our wonderful 2024 Sixth Form cohort. Our students have produced a fabulous set of well-deserved results. We have seen an increase in the number of A*s awarded compared to last year with more than three quarters of grades being A*-C.  Our BTEC students have done equally well with almost half of grades being either Distinction Star or Distinction. It is always a special event celebrating in person and staff were delighted to welcome the students into school this morning to collect their results and share in each other’s achievements.

Our students are now heading off to universities from Exeter to Durham to study courses including Art, Economics and Physics and Astronomy as well as taking up degree apprenticeships with companies such as Mars Wrigley.

We attribute this success to the hard work demonstrated by both our brilliant Sixth Formers and all the staff who relentlessly go above and beyond to offer their support (something which I am told often). Thank you and a huge well done to the entire Newlands community. We wish every one of the 95 students the very best of luck as they begin the next phase of their lives.
